London Map & Transports

Some simple tools to help you get around easily

London Map & Transports

London is a large and busy city. Inhabitants of London have been using the Tube to get around quickly and conveniently for over 150 years.

One thing we think you’ll find essential is the Tube map, whether you’re a first time visitor or you’ve already arrived and want to get around conveniently. The public transport system is modern and well integrated , and you’ll be able to pick up a map at any Tube station for free, or download it onto your mobile or computer.

We recommend always having the map with you so that you can easily plan journeys and check your route.

VISITOR OYSTER CARD (more information)

On the map you’ll see a colourful network with many intersections. There are 11 Tube lines, each with its own colour for quicker visual reference. The map is also divided into 6 concentric fare zones, with Zone 1 being the most central.

The Tube map is not actually geographical. It indicates the relative location of stations and the intersecting points. The cost of your journey depends on the number of zones in which you travel. It also depends on the time of day: peak time journeys (weekdays before 9:30 and between 16:00-19:00) are more expensive.

We recommend that you buy an Oyster Card at the start of your visit. Currently it costs £5. This reusable card will ensure you pay the lowest ticket price. You can simply top it up at ticket machines in stations, or in convenience stores around London, and use it. You can also return it at the end of your stay and get back the money you paid for it.

When you travel to the capital and come to stay in our London holiday rental apartments, make sure you have the London Tube map handy to plan your journey and find your London Short Let accommodation. Short Let London holds properties for short term holiday let within five minutes’ walk to stations on the Jubilee, Metropolitan, Bakerloo, District and Circle lines (Zone 1 and Zone 2).
